Our latest ‘easy drinking’ offering is Carmo Estate from the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Expect a very smooth coffee with a wonderful peanut tone at the front end, typical of so many Brazil coffees. There is a hint of sesame in the cup and a soft brown sugar sweetness as it cools. The pulped natural processing brings a coating mouthfeel to the cup.

Carmo Estate

Our seasonal coffees each come with their own story, which is part of what makes them so special. Here we take a closer look at Carmo Estate in Brazil.

Social and Environmental Responsibility

Carmo Estate’s mission is to produce exceptional coffees while providing its employees with a good quality of life and while also ensuring environmental sustainability. Túlio and his family take great measures towards both aims.

A project launched in 2003 is seeking to unite fragments of native forests on the farm. A detailed study of the estate’s original forest was made which led to the planting of five thousand seedlings of species native to the area.

Carmo Estate is also committed to the wellbeing of its employees and partners. Healthcare, on-site schooling for children, programmes to encourage workers to build their own housing, adult education projects and training on the importance of environmental preservation are all offered by Carmo. The farm also runs an innovative profit-sharing programme, in which employees are invited to become partners in Carmo Estate and thus become entitled to a share of the profits earned from the sale its coffees.
