Environmental & Social Responsibility

The area is named after Antonio Nariño, a leader during the fight for independence in Colombia, working closely with Simón Bolívar. However, two centuries later, Nariño was ravaged by guerrillas and paramilitary groups clashing. Thus, this region has plenty of history, and resilience. Thanks to the work of the coffee exporter, Pergamino and coffee in general, Buesaco is seeing a revival in safe livelihoods, reduced danger, and more stable incomes for families. Coffee has helped restore the community here, and the people are continuing to grow some exceptional coffees in the high mountains of Nariño.
