Finca La Cumbre 250g
Being a Cumbrian coffee roaster we’d like to suggest that the name of this coffee appealed to us. The literal translation for ‘La Cumbre’ is ‘the peak’, which makes this coffee a perfect fit for our business in more ways than one.
Ultimately we make our decision based upon taste and this coffee doesn’t disappoint. The green apple acidity is just enough to add some interest without being too tart in nature, and the lingering honeycomb flavour is simply delicious. There is a hint of spice in the cup; we agreed it was mostly akin to cinnamon.
Coffee at La Cumbre is meticulously cared for, as one might expect from such an experienced agronomist. But it is important to remember that for Don Federico, love for the land is as important as love for coffee. The farm is not Organic Certified, but they make every effort to limit the use of agrichemicals on the land. They farm on contour lines, as well, so as to prevent soil erosion. Much of the farm also lies fallow, as forest conservation areas.
