Yirgacheffe Idido 250g
With a few years of roasting under our belts now we’ve built up a bank of coffees we enjoy revisiting year on year. As a country, Ethiopia ranks among one of our favourite origins and we always look forward to coffees from this region. This season we have four Ethiopian coffees lined up, starting with Idido from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia.
Idido is the name of the town where this coffee was grown, all of it by smallholding farmers. The coffee cherries are then transported to the Aricha washing station where the coffee is processed; Idido being a fully washed coffee. From there the coffee travels to the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange where it is graded before being sold. Idido is a grade 1 Ethiopian coffee.
We’ve played around with this coffee for a couple of weeks and have enjoyed it mostly as an espresso. We’re therefore offering it as a single origin espresso, though it also works well through other brewing methods.
There is a moderate citrus acidity in the cup with flavours of stone fruit and floral hints of rose. The finish is delicious, thick, and honey sweet.
