The Igutha Factory belongs to the Rugi Farmer Cooperative Society (FCS) which was started back in 2005.  The soils in the region are rich with nutrients, and the rainfall is plentiful, making this an ideal place to grow coffee in Kenya. The members of the FCS will gather cherries from their farms and deliver to the collection point for the Factory to be sorted, weighed, and processed. Producers then receive payment based on the weight of their coffee.

For over ten years we have worked closely with Mercanta. They pay a fair price for coffee, empowering the growers they work with. Such is our faith in their commitment to supporting farmers that we now purchase 100% of our coffee through Mercanta.
