Raising money at Taste Cumbria Ulverston

May 29, 2014

In April of this year a good friend of ours, Ashley Charlwood, set out to run the Marathon des Sable (MdS), the toughest foot race in the world.  Apart from wanting to complete the race and return in one piece to the UK, Ash wanted to raise money for the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund, a cause very close to his heart. Over the past couple of years we’ve been watching Ash’s preparation for the MdS through his blog which you can read here, and we were able to experience the race through his daily posts.  While we’re unlikely to be able to follow in Ash’s footsteps, we wanted to both recognise and contribute to this effort – we might not be able to run that far but we can produce pretty good coffee! Over the Taste Cumbria weekend in Ulverston we gave away coffees in return for donations to the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund.  Thanks to the generous efforts of all those who visited our espresso bar, we managed to raise a tidy £440 for this worthwhile cause.
