We created our Coffee Academy to provide the highest possible quality of training for baristas in our region.  Our trainers all have many years of experience working in coffee and all hold as a minimum the SCA Intermediate Barista qualification.

Our Academy is equipped with top of the range equipment from quality brands including Victoria Arduino, La Marzocco, Mahlkonig and Nuova Simonelli.

We are licensed to delivery the SCA Accredited Barista programme which covers all levels from those new to coffee right through to a three day professional course.

An accredited coffee course for the home enthusiast.  This is a half day course and is an ideal module for anyone who is new to the coffee industry or just has an interest in this wonderful drink.

This course covers a broad spectrum of topics to give you an ideal introduction to the world of speciality coffee. We’ll look at the history of coffee, and the variables which contribute to the overall cup quality. We’ll include a coffee cupping session to introduce you to the way in which we taste coffee, and there will also be a practical element based on different coffee brewing methods.

SCA Introduction to Coffee
SCA Foundation Barista

This is a one day course designed to introduce core barista skills to people with no previous barista experience.

This course will cover all the key skills you will need to confidently be able to produce all the drinks on a typical coffee menu. We’ll begin with an introduction to coffee before moving on to the core skill of being able to calibrate a grinder to produce an espresso. This leads us nicely on to milk foaming, giving you the skills you need to produce a perfect flat white or silky, smooth cappuccino.

At the end of the course you will have the option of undertaking SCA Accreditation, which contributes 5 points towards the Coffee Skills Programme.

SCA Intermediate Barista


This is a two day course designed to test key core and more advanced skills and understanding, expected from a competent barista

Successful candidates should be able to dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand the basic requirements for customer service and maintenance.

At the end of the course you will have the option of undertaking SCA Accreditation, which contributes 10 points towards the Coffee Skills Programme.

SCA Professional Barista

This is a three day course designed to test advanced skills and detailed knowledge of the science behind processes used, expected from a professional barista.

The content of this course is suitable for baristas with a large amount of experience, or who have completed the Intermediate Barista Level. At this level you will explore espresso brew recipes in more detail, investigating how they might be adapted to achieve specific extractions. We’ll look at the theory behind grinder design, and particle distribution curves, and will include a focus on cafe layout and design. This course also includes a focus on water chemistry and easy of measuring and treating water for espresso extraction.

At the end of the course you will have the option of undertaking SCA Accreditation, which contributes 25 points towards the Coffee Skills Programme. This accreditation will have both a written and practical element.
